Some Thoughts

First: I want to apologize for forgetting the amount of oats on my recipe. (I hope you didn't really try to make it that way...Never fear, I changed it) Brain fart, I guess!

Second: Samantha had a doctor appointment on Thursday last week. Luckily, she didn't get any shots...therefore, it was relatively stress-free. Dr. Buchanan is the best doctor! He is so nice and explains things so well. I highly recommend him to anyone within range of West Jordan. Anyway, Sami weighed 16 lbs 3 oz which is 6 percentile. She is 27 1/2 inches long (39%), although Dr. Buchanan said this is the least accurate measurement they do. And her head is 68%. It's always good to know that your kids are healthy and developing normally.

Third: Zach and I watched Definitely, Maybe Friday night. I felt sad after watching it. I realized how the world discounts the importance of marriage, working for a good relationship, and commitment. In this movie, the main characters are a girl and her father. The father tells the girl a story about three women who might be her mother (the father and mother are divorcing). At the end, instead of realizing that he has made a commitment to the woman he married and that he still loves her, he walks away. Then, he finds the woman that he always loved all along (at his daughter's encouragement) and ends up happy. I'm not really explaining the plot good enough, but it just made me so sad to think the world doesn't see anything wrong in this situation. The story is told to invoke pity/joy for this man because he really loved this other woman the whole time, and now that his marriage is ending, he can FINALLY be with the one he wanted to be with all along instead of the woman he "settled" for...
Marriage and family are the key to eternal life. Without the woman, the man cannot make it and vice-versa. This is the ONLY way! Man and woman committed to each other, loving each other (even when you don't particularly "like" each other), working together towards the same goal, and bringing children into the world. This may be not be "pc" but, honestly I don't care. It's true. The family is under attack, heavy attack. We need to fight back.

So, we made the cookies..ya know, with modifications. (Much to Craig's chagrin...it's hard for me to cook anything without a little ad lib.) ;) So, I did whole wheat and added raisins and a small amount of choco chips..and don't get grossed out, but I also added some chick peas--per a recipe in Deceptively Delicious. They were delish and the kids loved them! Thanks!

Tara, I totally agree with you about the movie. I watched it on the plane ride home last month and I was so bummed about the ending. All along I was thinking that his retelling the story would make him realize that he didn't want a divorce and his daughter wouldn't want him to get one. The last 10 minutes of the movie I was thinking "what the????"

Those cookies look yum. I'm going to have to try them.
