Okay, I have some gripes...
Sami has not taken a nap for two days. What the heck, Damage?!
Sami WILL NOT let me change/dress/anything that requires her to be on her back without first rolling over and climbing on the changing table a million times, screaming because I keep laying her down, and grabbing the side rails with AMAZING strength (I'm talking practically a death grip). Grrrrr! But, I need to learn patience, so this is my class!
Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love this little bean. She just has so much energy--Sister Monson (I think) said "big spirit in a little body". She is constantly moving, but it's great. I wouldn't want her to be any other way. It's just patience-testing at times.
Also, I read A Heart Like His by Virginia H Pearce for my book club. It was a really inspirational book. The author talks about doing an "experiment" to open your heart to God's love for you and for others. This is one I will buy eventually. Very worthwile.

I know I shouldn't laugh, but it reminds me of one time when Marla tried to bring Jane in from a walk and she held onto the door jamb so tightly that Marla couldn't pull her off! This is a frustrating age when they don't yet have the words to communicate what they want, but have developed a mind of their own. You can begin to reason with them at about age two. As for the naps, they go through periods where you think they're giving up their nap (and your sanity-saving time of the day!), but they eventually wear out and get back into routine.
I think all little kids have their moments where they don't do everything exactly like you want them to. Unfortunately, I'm not sure when they grow out of that stage!? I'm trying to figure that one out right now...
just remember "patience it's a virtue"...and if everything else fails go outside and SCREAM! :0)
Tara, I totally feel your frustration. Raising kids can sometimes...okay, nearly all the time, be such a stretching/refining experience! I've also heard that screaming in a bathroom/closet/pillow can be very rejuvenating! My friend told me a story that sometimes helps me keep things in perspective...One day when she was younger, she and her sisters were being very obnoxious and her mom had repeatedly asked them to calm down so she could finish a project. After awhile her mom just quietly left the room. Later that evening when they went to go to bed they discovered their mother had short-sheeted their beds! What an elect lady!
I hear ya! Patience is a virtue that I'm learning also.
