Cupcakes
Last night, we "celebrated" Sami's birthday (I use the word "celebrated" loosely here). I went to Walmart (gotta love it) and bought a cherry chip cake mix, whipped vanilla frosting, and cupcake cups for $3.19. (Ha! I was pretty proud of myself.) After dinner, we put the birthday girl in her high chair with a cupcake. She had fun for a couple minutes (at least long to get some pictures), ate some of it and decided she didn't really like it, and left crumbs all over her chair. She opened a couple of her presents-with help from Dad-and LOVED all her books. So, thanks for the presents Devin, Craig & Lois, Alan & Michele, Mom & Dad (ahead of time, I know she'll love your present.)
Then, today we had an appointment with Dr Buchanan. He pronounced her (as always) a perfect picture of a healthy one year old. She weighs 18lbs 5oz and is 29 in tall. So, still average for height and tiny for weight. She never holds still (even while sleeping, like her dad) and I'm convinced that's why she's lacking in the rolls department! She got five pokes today and it was a lot more traumatic than I was expecting. They tested her blood to see if she's anemic and she was soooo sad while the nice nurse was squeezing her little finger to get blood. Then, the icing on the cake was the four shots. She didn't calm down until I hand fed (she wouldn't take them from me) 50 cheerios and water, about halfway home. Poor girl! It is so sad when she's upset (I think mostly because she never really is).
Also, completely off the subject, Zach is starting a new, very exciting job Monday with Zwick Construction. He will be working as a project engineer (asst proj manager) on a recreation center in Salt Lake. We're very excited. It is a wonderful opportunity which came at just the right time.
Also, it is FREEZING today! I don't know if I'm quite ready for this weather...

How stinkin cute is she! Landon says happy birthday!
When Olivia was about 9 months, the doctor was trying to tell me how he was a little concerned at her skimpy weight, despite her decent appetite, but he kept pausing to watch her squirm and kick and flop all over the exam table, and then finally said, " . . . or maybe she just has a really high metabolism."
Congrats on the job Zach!
So Zach is going to work for Darin? How and when did that happen? I'm really curious. If they're still hiring, call Jordan.
I have to say, it's been fun checking your blog and seeing how you're doing.
Take care,
Marc
