(Sorry about the poor quality, I forgot to bring our good video camera & had to use the snapshot camera we have on site) I'm sure most of you don't care, but I think this stuff is fascinating. Last Tuesday we placed the gym floor at the Rec Center I'm working on. It obviuosly needs to be very flat, so they used a laser screed. They set a tripod up on one end of the gym that holds a rotating laser, the operator drives the machine into place, puts down the outriggers, then extends the screed. There are screens on top of it that tell him to raise or lower the screed, and he pulls it in. When he's done, he raises the outriggers and moves along. I'd never seen one actually in use so I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Then they finish the slab using a riding trowell (below). I'll tell you what, I think I would pay MY boss to use one of these.
And you thought all we did was swing hammers. Ha!

It's starting to look like your dream job!
Very cool Zach! We used a lazer screed on the original pour at out EWP plant back in 2000. The total floor space was 500,000 sq.ft. We've since added another 250,000 sq.ft. to the building. That screed on a big pour like that. I'm glad you're having fun . . . to me it's a kick.
Looks cool! It's fun to see what you do at work.
I have never seen a laser screed before, that was pretty cool. Also, I think Riding Trowell is right up there with Zamboni for "most fun ride-on machine".
I'm glad you're enjoying working for Darin. Do you remember the time Jordan and I did a group date with you and Tara? We talked about concrete for 45 min. before Tara said something. All of the girls had phased-out and had glazed over looks on their faces.
